Bosun Terms of Service

Effective 7 August 2026 · Applies to Bosun for Mac and Bosun Translate Keyboard for iPhone

The short version. Pay monthly or yearly, cancel whenever you like from your receipt email, and whatever you have paid for keeps working to the end of the period. Dictation in your own language is free forever. We can’t promise a translation is perfect — nobody can — so please don’t use Bosun where a mistranslation would be dangerous.

These terms are an agreement between you and Treemoondus Life LLC (“we”, “us”), a Massachusetts limited liability company. Installing or using Bosun means you accept them. How we handle your data is covered separately in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

The iPhone keyboard is free. It has no subscription, no in-app purchase and no trial — you bring your own Anthropic key and pay Anthropic directly. The plans described below apply to Bosun for Mac.

1. What you get

A personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Bosun on the Macs and iPhones you own or control, for as long as your plan is active. You may not resell it, rent it, redistribute it, or share your licence key. We keep ownership of the software.

2. The plans

PlanPriceWhat it includes
Free Dictation in your own language, on your Mac. Yours forever, with or without a subscription.
Bosun Pro $9.99/month or $79/year All translation features with the AI included — no API key and no Anthropic account needed. Subject to the fair-use allowance in section 5. If you prefer, you may use your own Anthropic API key instead of our AI, at the same price; the allowance in section 5 then does not apply, and you pay Anthropic directly for what you use.

Prices are in US dollars and exclude any tax your country requires, which Gumroad adds at checkout. We may change prices for future billing periods; if we do, we will tell you by email before it takes effect, and you may cancel rather than accept it. A price change never applies to a period you have already paid for.

3. Trial, billing and cancellation

4. Refunds

If Bosun isn’t what you expected, write to info@treemoondus.com within 7 days of a charge and we will refund it. You don’t have to give a reason. A refunded period ends immediately and the licence stops working. Where the law of your country gives you a stronger right to cancel or be refunded than this paragraph does, that law wins — nothing here reduces it.

5. Fair use of Bosun Pro

Pro includes AI translation that we pay for, so it carries an allowance — 1,500,000 tokens per rolling 30 days, which at the size of a typical message is around five thousand translations, or roughly 190 a day. It is not a calendar month and there is no reset date: the allowance frees up continuously as your older use passes the 30-day mark. This is sized so that no person typing to another person will ever reach it; it exists to stop automated abuse, not to ration normal use. If you hit it, Bosun tells you so plainly, translation pauses until enough of your earlier use has rolled off, and everything else — including dictation — keeps working. If you have a genuine reason to need more, ask us and we will raise it.

You agree not to use the relay for bulk or automated translation, to resell access to it, or to share your key so that others can use it.

6. Acceptable use

Don’t use Bosun to break the law, to harass anyone, to infringe someone’s rights, or to attack our servers. Don’t try to reverse-engineer, decompile or circumvent the licensing.

Bosun’s translation is performed by Claude, Anthropic’s AI, and your use of it is also subject to Anthropic’s Usage Policy. In particular, you agree not to use translation to deceive or defraud anyone, to generate abusive or illegal content, to violate someone’s privacy, or to access information you have no right to. Only translate text you lawfully have and are entitled to process — messages you’ve received on your own device qualify; other people’s private data you have no right to does not. We may suspend service for violations, as section 9 describes.

7. What we can and cannot promise

Machine translation is not a professional translator. It can be wrong, it can be subtly wrong, and it can be wrong in a way that reads perfectly fluently. Bosun is built for personal conversation. Do not rely on it for anything where a mistranslation could cause harm — medical, legal, financial, safety-critical or emergency communication.

Bosun depends on Anthropic’s API and on your internet connection, neither of which we control. We aim to keep the relay available and to fix what breaks, but we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free service. Except where the law does not allow it to be excluded, the software is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind.

8. Limit of liability

To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim connected with Bosun is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing here limits liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited — and if you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.

9. Suspension

We may suspend or end a licence if payment fails, if it was obtained fraudulently, or if it is used in breach of section 5 or 6. Except in cases of fraud or abuse, we will contact you first and give you a chance to put it right. If we end your licence for any reason other than your breach, we refund the unused part of the period.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The current version always lives at this address with its effective date. We will tell subscribers by email about any material change at least 30 days before it applies, and you may cancel instead of accepting it.

11. Law, and resolving a disagreement

Please write to us first — info@treemoondus.com. We are one small company and nearly everything is settled faster by email than by anything else.

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and the courts of Massachusetts have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in, and you may bring proceedings there — nothing in this section takes that away.
